Dennis H. Cheatham, ‘65 honored the chapter with noteworthy undergraduate activity, significant professional achievement, and distinguished service to the fraternity. Cheatham held significant roles in banking and in a variety of community organizations. For Delta Upsilon International Fraternity, almost immediately after graduation, he began serving as the national treasurer in 1974 and became chairman of the board of directors in 1977. He then served as trustee of the Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation. His 1983 death was greeted by shock and disbelief across the fraternity. A scholarship fund was established with contributions from members of Delta Upsilon and Cheatham’s banking associates. The scholarship funds are held by the Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation at DU IHQ. A recipient of the Cheatham Scholarship must be a third- or fourth-year student in the School of Business and meet other qualifications.
